Book covers from another era

book1We’ve always been told to not judge a book by the cover.

But that’s what I’ve been doing the past year. And I want to share some of them with you.

I visit a small bookstore in Portland that sells old books. I’ve been going there for more than 50 years. What I look for now are hardback books – most of them from the 1930s and 1940s – that feature unique artwork.

I find the covers beautiful, from another era.

In many ways, they remind me of album covers from when I was in in high school and college. Young people won’t ever have the thrill of listening to the music while studying the cover and reading the liner notes.

Times change.

You can’t go back.

But I can.

When I hold one of the books in my collection.

If you have a book cover that you like, send me a photo and I will post it.
